Salient points of speech of Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah while addressing the media

  • Based on the feedback from our booth workers working in the ground in West Bengal and Assam assembly elections, I firmly believe that the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to win more than 26 out of 30 assembly segments in West Bengal and more than 37 assembly segments out of 47 which went to polls in the Assam in the first round of elections in the two states yesterday.

  • In the first round of elections in West Bengal the high probability of the Bharatiya Janata Party winning more than 26 assembly seats has given a superb start to the BJP's target of winning more than 200 seats in the state and it is also a clear indication that the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form government in the state with full majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form its Governments in both Assam and West Bengal with a massive majority.

  • On behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, our National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda I would like to express my gratitude to the people of West Bengal and Assam for giving overwhelming support to the Bharatiya Janata Party in both the states and confirming victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party  and supporting the vision of our party.

  • In West Bengal there was over 84% polling and over 79% polling in Assam. In many many years this has happened in West Bengal that elections were conducted with any violence, bomb blasts and without any person getting killed. The first phase was conducted without the demand for re-polling at a single booth. This is all very unprecedented and it is a very good sign for the strengthening of democracy in West Bengal.

  • There was some fear among the Bharatiya Janata Party workers that like previous years this year too criminals and goonda elements will try and disrupt the election and polling process and try to vitiate the environment in the state. I want to congratulate the Election Commission of India for having conducted the elections peacefully and in a very free and fair manner.

  • After the misrule of the Left parties for 27 long years, the people of West Bengal voted for Mamata Banerjee with the hope that the state will see all-round growth and development. But the ruling party's name and symbol changed in West Bengal but the fate of the state and its people did not change.  West Bengal continues to remain underdeveloped, backward.

  • In West Bengal there has been massive corruption and politics of infiltration has ruined the state. There has been massive corruption in relief works and in social sector schemes. There is complacency in the West Bengal government fight against Corona and the law and order situation has become worse. There is massive anger among people of West Bengal against the Trinamool Congress Government.

  • The dream which we have seen under the guidance of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to make West Bengal 'Sonar Bangla', the people of West Bengal has believed in it. We have been successful in making the people of West Bengal realise that the fate of West Bengal and its people can change.

  • The people of West Bengal now firmly believe that under the guidance of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji West Bengal can also become a progressive and developed state. Peace can also prevail in West Bengal. Politics of appeasement can be ended in West Bengal and we can bring development and prosperity for everyone by following the ideals of the Bharatiya Janata Party of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.  Every section of the society can get religious freedom.

  • I want to give special thanks to the womenfolk of West Bengal because our mothers, sisters and daughters of West Bengal have given massive support to the Bharatiya Janata Party and its candidates.

  • I have a strong conviction and my enthusiastic party workers give me this confidence that If the current momentum continues in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party then we will surely win more than 200 assembly segments and make our government in the state with a massive majority.

  • In Assam the Bharatiya Janata Party government will make terrorism-free Assam, protest-free Assam. The voting in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party clearly indicates that Assam has once again moved towards politics of development and progress. The people of Assam has overwhelmingly supported the Bharatiya Janata Party's idea of making the state free of floods.
