Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Leader, Former union Minister and MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday. During the press conference, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized opposition leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, and leaders from the south, for spreading false information about the CAA and labeling it as anti-Muslim. Shri Prasad stressed that the CAA does not revoke citizenship from any Indian citizen but is intended to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad remarked that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a perplexing statement today, suggesting that after the implementation of CAA, refugees would take jobs from Indian citizens. This assertion seems illogical. The minorities being granted citizenship are those who faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. They endured persecution solely due to their religious beliefs. Shri Prasad emphasized that India offers opportunities to these persecuted minorities.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized that securing citizenship through legal channels is India's moral, constitutional, and cultural prerogative. He affirmed that the CAA does not entail taking away anyone's job or citizenship. Shri Prasad accused Arvind Kejriwal of engaging in vote bank politics and asserted that Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has consistently emphasized that the CAA does not revoke the citizenship of any individual residing in India. Shri Prasad stressed that the CAA exclusively concerns persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and does not affect Indian citizens in any way. BJP Senior Leader Prasad underscored that the Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued a statement affirming that the CAA does not discriminate against Muslims in the country. Shri Prasad dismissed all claims suggesting otherwise as false propaganda aimed at portraying the CAA as anti-Muslim. Shri Prasad expressed surprise at the inconsistency where people advocate for the rights of Rohingyas but criticize when similar support is extended to those persecuted minorities who are struggling in their lives. Shri Prasad emphasized that it's unfortunate that when the government, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, takes initiatives for their benefit, the same people choose to criticize them.

Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Leader Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad warned against instigating communal discord and spreading false information about the CAA. Leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, and left-wing leaders from the south are opposing the Act, with concerns about losing their vote bank. Shri Prasad clarified that the CAA does not revoke the citizenship of any Indian and does not deprive any Indian of their citizenship. The CAA is specifically designed for those who have faced persecution due to their faith and have been compelled to flee from countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. India, guided by its civilizational heritage, extends protection to these refugees under the CAA.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad urged parties in South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, to refrain from spreading falsehoods about the CAA. The CAA was enacted to address the exploitation of individuals based on their religion.
