Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the press conference Dr. Sambit Patra accused Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party Convener Arvind Kejriwal of evading nine summons from the Enforcement Directorate. Dr. Patra emphasized that the court has deemed Kejriwal prima facie accused, debunked his technical excuses, and deemed the summons lawful. Dr. Sambit Patra discussed Telangana BRS leader K Kavitha's involvement in the Delhi liquor scam, presenting evidence of her alleged bribery to AAP leaders in Delhi.

BJP National spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra pointed out that regarding Arvind Kejriwal, it's sometimes astonishing how opinions change. Kejriwal, who once declared that receiving a summons is a matter of honor and demanded sending summons even on a suspicion of wrongdoing and conducting an investigation. Dr. Patra stated that those who used to accuse others every day and demand investigations are now running away from summonses. In the last six months, from October to March, approximately 9 summonses have been delivered to Arvind Kejriwal. However, Kejriwal has consistently demonstrated disrespect for the constitutional provisions of India by evading each summons sent to him.

 

BJP National spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra stated that investigative agencies are not established by any political party, they operate solely based on evidence. When a murderer commits a crime, traces of blood are inevitably left behind. Arvind Kejriwal has murdered the trust of thousands of people, he has murdered the truth and development, and evidence of his actions is scattered everywhere, on the basis of which summons have been sent to Kejriwal.

 

Dr. Sambit Patra emphasized that while 9 summonses have been issued to Arvind Kejriwal, he has provided 18 excuses in return. These excuses ranged from Diwali, during the first summons, to governance priorities in the second, followed by Vipashyana, assembly sessions, and campaigning in Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Patra mentioned that now technical excuses are being given from Arvind Kejriwal's side, claiming that since the court has dismissed the summons, there is no basis for the ED to send summons.

 

Dr. Sambit Patra stated that the first question to consider is whether the court has rejected these summons, as claimed by AAP's leader Arvind Kejriwal, asserting them to be illegal. Dr. Patra mentioned that Kejriwal approached the Rouse Avenue court to halt these summons, alleging them to be unlawful according to the ED. However, the judge stated that she will give her judgment on the complaint raised by Kejriwal after studying the basis of documents.

 

BJP National spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra stated that under section 174, if an investigation agency summons someone and they do not respect the summons, legal proceedings can take place against that individual. However, Kejriwal requested that no legal proceedings be initiated against him. Nonetheless, the judge addressed him as the accused. Dr. Patra noted that the judge has asked that accused Kejriwal must respect the ED summons and will have to provide clarification. Dr. Patra stated that the court itself has ordered the issuance of summons as Kejriwal is prima facie accused. Arvind Kejriwal's claim that the summons were illegal has been disproved, as affirmed by the court. Dr. Patra stated that after the court's judgment, Arvind Kejriwal filed a case for a revision petition against the court's order. However, the court declined to stay the proceedings.

 

Bharatiya Janata Party National spokesperson mentioned that the court clarified that they cannot issue a stay on the summons, and the accused must appear as summoned. Failure to comply could result in arrest. However, since Section 174 of the IPC is bailable, the accused has that option available. Dr. Patra highlighted that Arvind Kejriwal is out on bail for a sum of 15,000 rupees, and he is portraying it as if he has been granted bail without any trouble. There must have been some wrongdoing for Arvind Kejriwal to reach the point of needing bail, if he were innocent, there wouldn't have been any necessity for bail at all. Arvind Kejriwal is now standing in the same league as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Robert Vadra, all of whom are out on bail. Arvind Kejriwal should understand that being out on bail is not a merit but a demerit, and he should stop presenting bail as a relief. Dr. Patra then highlighted that an FIR has been filed regarding the corruption that occurred in the Delhi Jal Board, and it is publicly available.

 

Dr. Patra emphasized that the second matter concerns BRS MLC K Kavitha. He stated that K Kavitha was first arrested by the ED, and subsequently, she was sent for interrogation. Dr. Sambit Patra cited a statement from the ED and emphasized that the ED investigation revealed, K Kavitha, along with others, conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to obtain favors in the formulation and implementation of Delhi's excise policy. It was further disclosed that in exchange for these favors, she was involved in paying ₹100 crore to the leaders of AAP. This pertained to a company called "South Group," where K Kavitha was a kingpin. It was revealed that she had a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, where they promised to settle their feud and engage in the liquor business through her company, being promised a 12% commission.

 

Dr. Sambit Patra cited several statements, including that of Member of Parliament Manguta's, which highlighted instances of the Delhi excise policy scam and K Kavitha's involvement in it. Dr. Patra conveyed that Arvind Kejriwal keeps denying his own misdeeds, but there are many pieces of evidence that prove that there have been some wrongdoings. Dr. Sambit Patra emphasized that the Indian people are discerning and can differentiate between those who offer guarantees and those involved in corruption. Dr. Patra highlighted that once who used auto-rickshaws for transportation now looting crores and evading summons. Dr. Sambit Patra concluded with the saying, "Kanoon ke haath lambe hote hain" suggesting that Arvind Kejriwal cannot evade justice.
