Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokespersons and Rajya sabha MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the press conference, Dr. Trivedi and Smt Shazia Ilmi criticized the Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for tarnishing the character of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal instead of addressing her mistreatment and taking action.

 

Dr. Trivedi stated that the recent incident at the Chief Minister’s residence has exposed AAP so much that even after 8 days, still the people of Delhi seek answers to several questions. The comments AAP is making about Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal raise a few questions: Arvind Kejriwal used to say that he would live in a small house and keep his doors open 24 hours for anyone to meet him. However, today he is locked in his 'Sheesh Mahal' and claims he didn't meet his MP Swati Maliwal because she didn't have an appointment. If she tries to meet him without an appointment, there could be misconduct. AAP has only a few MPs, and most of them are in the Rajya Sabha. Most of these MPs don't need to meet Arvind Kejriwal, but if Kejriwal can't meet his remaining 2-3 MPs, then questions arise. Every day, the CM’s minute-to-minute program schedule gets published, so Kejriwal must publish it and prove that he wasn't available that day and why he didn’t meet them. Otherwise, he should accept that he was in his CM residence and didn’t want to meet Swati Maliwal. Dr. Trivedi stated that AAP also claimed there wasn’t any appointment. They must publish the appointment list and prove it. If Swati Maliwal didn’t have an appointment, then how did she enter the CM's drawing room? Arvind Kejriwal has Z+ security, and as per protocol, what action did his security forces take? They filed a trespassing report after four days.

 

Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Trivedi noted that Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar, who doesn’t hold any government or political post, was present at the CM’s residence. It’s still unclear whether he had an appointment and, if he didn't, how he was present at the CM’s residence. Dr. Trivedi mentioned that after the incident Bibhav Kumar wasn’t seen anywhere and then was found in Lucknow and then he was found at CM’s residence. Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi pointed out that an AAP female MP lodged a complaint of abuse against her, and AAP’s parliamentary board chairperson, Sanjay Singh acknowledged in an official press conference that Swati Maliwal had indeed been abused. Dr. Trivedi questioned whether AAP conducted any investigation before reaching a conclusion.

 

Dr. Trivedi stated that the incident marks an extraordinary and unprecedented moment in India's history, where physical manhandling took place in the Chief Minister's residence involving an MP from the ruling party. A similar incident occurred in 1995, known as the State Guesthouse scandal, involving Mayawati. At that time, Mayawati stated, "Samajwadi Party Ke Gunde Meri Jaan Lena Chahte The." The new wave of politicians has created a new chapter in political history, if that was the ‘State Guesthouse’ scandal, this is the ‘CM House’ scandal. This incident in Delhi CM’s residence raises even more alarming questions than the Guest House scandal in Lucknow.

 

BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Trivedi remarked that Arvind Kejriwal often offers insights about the BJP and makes numerous predictions. Despite having worked with Swati Maliwal for 20-22 years, how did Kejriwal suddenly view her as a BJP agent. Following the mistreatment of a female parliamentarian by AAP, instead of addressing the issue, the entire party has resorted to mocking her character.

 

Dr. Trivedi pointed out that AAP has achieved a new level of corruption, with several of its leaders like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Satyendra implicated. However, Arvind Kejriwal's demeanor has never appeared as troubled as it has since his arrest of Bibhav Kumar, prompting him to start protesting on the streets. Today, the citizens of Delhi and the entire nation seek answers. During the press conference in Lucknow, when questions were posed, Arvind Kejriwal's facial expressions seemed to provide the responses. Journalists are also facing mistreatment and the opposition claims that with their presence will safeguard democracy. AAP stands as the sole political party that physically assaulted the Chief Secretary by summoning him to their residence. During the 2014 elections, key members of AAP's top committee launched an attack on the BJP office, resorting to stone-throwing. AAP members are inherently inclined towards instigating unrest and chaos. Before becoming the Chief Minister, Kejriwal had cut electricity wires, such is his habit.

 

MP Dr. Trivedi mentioned that there are 8 technical questions Arvind Kejriwal needs to address. One political query is why the Aam Aadmi Party hasn't initiated any political or administrative investigation yet, despite two of its MP’s acknowledging misconduct. The last ethical question is why Kejriwal hasn't responded similarly to the arrests of prominent leaders as he did to Bhibav Kumar's arrest. This perspective sheds light on the Aam Aadmi Party.

 

On this occasion, BJP National Spokesperson Smt Shazia Ilmi pointed out that while Arvind Kejriwal questions surgical strikes, he remains silent on the Swati Maliwal case. Swati Maliwal, the senior-most among the 10 Rajya Sabha MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party, is now being accused of being a BJP agent. The CCTV footage of this incident was entirely empty and on May 14, Bibhav Kumar formatted his phone after the incident on May 13. What compelled the missing footage between the two videos? There is also no footage before the first video showing what occurred in the Sheesh Mahal.

 

Smt Ilmi stated that Aam Aadmi Party has leveled allegations against its longtime associate, claiming she is motivated by politics and being sponsored by the BJP to manipulate the entire incident. Swati Maliwal is also accused of being involved in corruption, although the incident under discussion dates back to 2016. Despite this, Swati Maliwal was appointed twice as the chairperson of the Women's Commission by Delhi's LG and CM. There are reports of tweets containing the Swati Maliwal's relatives' vehicle plate numbers and her relatives are also being done to tarnish Swati's reputation. In 2015, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were physically assaulted and Anshu Prakash also experienced similar violence, with no CCTV footage available at the time. Despite Kejriwal's claim that such an assault was implausible, two legislators were jailed in connection with the case. It's very regrettable that the Aam Aadmi Party is now trying to harass its oldest female colleague.
