Salient points of Press Conference of BJP National Spokesperson Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi (MP) & National Secretary Sh Tarun Chugh

The violence and attack over the Nankana Sahib shrine in Pakistan last Friday is dastardly and reprehensible.

**************

We ask the Pakistan government to take immediate measures to protect the life, property and dignity of the Sikh community in Nankana Sahib and also of other minority communities across Pakistan.

**************

The persecution continues unabated since the creation of Pakistan resulting into forced migration of such persecuted minorities into India. This not only justifies the necessity of an act like the CAA but also stresses the need for its immediate implementation. Pakistan now proves that CAA is right and is timely.

**************

Nankana sahib is just a symbolic act of that larger conspiracy of Pakistan and it's not conducive to the ethos of a multicultural modern civilization of the 21st century.

**************

We severely condemn this gruesome act of violence against such an important shrine of global Sikh faith. It's as gruesome in nature as someone attacking Kaba or Jerusalem.

**************

We demand that the Pakistan government must protect their lives, dignity and basic human rights without failure.

The violence and attack over the Nankana Sahib shrine in Pakistan last Friday is dastardly and reprehensible. We ask the Pakistan government to take immediate measures to protect the life, property and dignity of the Sikh community in Nankana Sahib and also of other minority communities across Pakistan.

There have been consistent acts of violence over the religious places of minorities in Pakistan and there have also been constant human rights violations against minorities over decades. The members of minority communities in Pakistan have been subjected to threats, forcible conversion and also death mostly by being framed under the draconian Blasphemy law. That's why the population of minorities has consistently reduced in that country. The persecution continues unabated since the creation of Pakistan resulting into forced migration of such persecuted minorities into India. Nankana sahib is just a symbolic act of that larger conspiracy of Pakistan and it's not conducive to the ethos of a multicultural modern civilization of the 21st century.

There have been thousands of evidences indicating young girls from Sikhs, Hindus, christians and other minorities communities in Pakistan being forcibly abducted from their houses, converted into Islam and married off to Muslim boys while the police, government agencies and the courts have supported the perpetrators by legalizing the injustice. This not only justifies the necessity of an act like the CAA but also stresses the need for its immediate implementation. Pakistan now proves that CAA is right and is timely.

We severely condemn this gruesome act of violence against such an important shrine of global Sikh faith. It's as gruesome in nature as someone attacking Kaba or Jerusalem. The Pakistan government and society must know that Pakistani Sikhs have been the offspring of the original Sikh community of the undivided India who chose to remain in Pakistan considering it to be their homes. Therefore, we demand that the Pakistan government must protect their lives, dignity and basic human rights without failure.
