Salient points of press conference of Union Minister & Senior BJP leader Shri Prakash Javadekar

The spectacular victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the just concluded local bodies elections in Gujarat has once again proven that the people of Gujarat has full trust and confidence in the leadership, pro poor and people friendly policies and programmes of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state. This massive victory has further cemented the ties and bonding between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the people of Gujarat.

The results of local bodies elections in Gujarat have given clear indications that the people of the State are firmly with the agenda of development, good governance, growth and progress of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Bharatiya Janata Party's grand victory also shows that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji the nation and the state are setting new benchmarks of growth and development.

For ensuring massive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party, I on behalf of the entire Party leadership and workers want to thank the people of Gujarat. I would also like to thank the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership, its workers for taking the nation on the path of growth and progress.

After the passage of the Agriculture Sector Reforms Laws in Parliament the Bharatiya Janata Party has been registering big electoral successes in every part of the country, be it the assembly elections in Bihar, the bye elections in various states and also the local bodies elections in various parts of the country. It is very clear from these victories that the framers of the country are firmly with the Bharatiya Janata Party government and the farm sector reforms laws initiated by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.

Gujarat as well as the citizens of the entire country are firmly with the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji's Vikas Yatra ( path of development and growth ). The negative politics and false propaganda of the Congress and Company has been vehemently rejected by the people of the country.

In Gujarat this time the Bharatiya Janata Party has won all 31 Zila Panchayats in the state while in the last elections in 2015, the Congress had won 22 Zila Panchayats in the state. The Congress has been totally decimated from Gujarat.

In Gujarat, out of 231 Taluka Panchayats the Bharatiya Janata Party has got a clear mandate in 196 Taluka Panchayats, while the BJP has won 75 Nagar Palikas out of 81 Nagar Palikas in Gujarat.

The Congress has failed to open its account in 16 Taluka Panchayats, 18 Nagar Palikas and one Zila Panchayats. The Congress has also been reduced to single digit in 193 Taluk Panchayats , 52 Nagar Palikas and 26 Zila Panchayats.

Several top Congress leaders and their families members and relatives have also lost the elections in Gujarat . The Congress state unit president and the Congress former president have also failed to save the Congress from miserable defeat from their areas.

Significantly, in the elections held on February 21, 2021 in the six Nagar Nigams in Gujarat - Ahmedabad, Surat , Rajkot , Vadodara , Jamnagar and Bhavnagar , the Bharatiya Janata Party had also registered massive victories in the state.

In November last year the Bharatiya Janata Party had emerged as the single largest party in the Bihar assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party contested 110 assembly seats out of which the party won 74 seats. The National Democratic Alliance was once again successful in forming its Government in Bihar with full majority .

Apart from Assembly elections the Bharatiya Janata Party contested 58 assembly by-elections held in 11 states out of which the party won 40 assembly seats. In Madhya Pradesh the Bharatiya Janata Party won 19 out of 28 assembly seats, in Gujarat the party won 8 out of 8, in Uttar Pradesh 6 out of 7, in Manipur four out of five, two out of two in Karnataka and the only seat for which election was held in Telangana was also won by the BJP.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has performed exceptionally well in local body elections in Ladakh, Hyderabad, Bodoland, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. In Kerala too the Bharatiya Janata Party has performed very well.
