SALIENT POINTS OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE OF HON'BLE UNION MINISTER SMT. MEENAKSHI LEKHI

Union Minister Smt Meenakshi Lekhi today addressed a press conference in the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters today and targetted the Trinamool Congress Party government in West Bengal and Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi for not removing their ministers involved in corruption and asked them to come out clean.

Lambasting the Trinamool Congress Party government in West Bengal for massive corruption by its minister Partha Chatterjee, Smt Lekhi said I want to recall for the benefit of the people of India that those who had come to power by talking about 'Maa, Mati, Manush' are today they are engaged in 'Maya-Maya-Maya' and 'Money-Money-Money'. The Trinamool Congress Party government in West Bengal is thinking nothing beyond money. The Trinamool Congress Party has nothing to offer to the people of West Bengal.

The involvement of current Industry Minister in the Trinamool Congress Party government and former Education Minister in West Bengal in corruption, and the raids of the Enforcement Directorate raids on his close confidant Arpita Mukherjee and recovery of Rs 50 crore in cash, around 9 kg gold , foreign currency and illegal properties worth crores -- all these are glaring examples of massive corruption that is going on West Bengal.

The Union Minister said yet another case of corruption involving another close associate of Parth Chatterjee, Monalisa Das, has come to light. As per media reports they are supposed to be owners of several benami properties and flats. In 2014 Monalisa Das took admission in Kaji Nazrul University in Asansol and today she is heading the Bengali department of the same University. She became the head of her department in just 8 years is itself raises a big question.

Smt Lekhi said in the Enforcement Directorate raids three flats linked to Partha Chatterjee have been unearthed. Out of these one luxury flat is for his pet dogs. In this massive scam Rs 50 crore has been recovered from the close friend of Parth Chatterjee and it can be well imagined the scale of corruption in this case. As per media reports during the investigation Arpita Mukherjee has told Enforcement Directorate that Partha Chatterjee used to treat her home as 'Mini Bank'. This is not all, Arpita Mukherjee also told Enforcement Directorate that how to corruption money is distributed from top to bottom . It is very important to know that where does this money used to go . The Bharatiya Janata Party demands that the Enforcement Directorate needs to go deep into this massive corruption and this scam should be thoroughly investigated.

Why has the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee kept mum on such massive case of corruption?  The entire country wants to know this.

Alike the Trinamool Congress Party government, in Delhi also the Arvind Kejriwal government has turned a blind eye over the corruption cases of his ministers. Despite strong comments of the Delhi High Court, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not removed his health minister Satender Jain from whose house cash of over Rs 4.5 crore and benami properties were recovered.

A month prior to the arrest of Satender Jain, the Enforcement Directorate has attached the properties of Satender Jain. Despite the involvement of Satender Jain in corruption cases, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not removed him from his Cabinet.

Smt Lekhi also said on July 27 (Wednesday) the Delhi High Court while hearing a case related to Satender Jain had made strong comments and said maintaining the sanctity of our Constitution is the joint responsibility of the entire Cabinet. The Delhi Chief Minister has to consider that can a minister of criminal background , those who are involved in corruption cases, should they be appointed in Constitutional position? Should they allowed to continue as a minister?

Union Minister also said the Delhi High Court while hearing the case of Satender Jain quoted Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar that only good and honest people can guarantee good governance. Though the court cannot get involved in good or bad decisions, but it can certainly tell the custodians of our Constitution how to keep the sanctity of our Constitution intact. We hope that the Chief Minister will get guidance and inspiration from our Constitutional principles. The Delhi High Court said that it agrees with the observations of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar ji and hoped that while making appointments in high offices the Delhi Chief Minister will uphold the principles of our Constitution which will strengthen the belief of the people of our country on our Constitution.

Smt Lekhi said it is very difficult to understand that despite such harsh comments by the Supreme Court then why is the Delhi Chief Minister is so scared to sacking his ministers involved in corruption? What is stopping Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take strong steps against corruption is beyond anyone's understanding?
