Hon’ble Union Minister of State & Senior BJP leader Sushri Shobha Karandlaje addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, on Tuesday. During the conference, Sushri. Karandlaje accused Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of being involved in scandals such as the MUDA Scam and the Valmiki Development Corporation scam. She demanded the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah and called for him to face trial in the Valmiki Development Corporation case.
Sushri Karandlaje stated that Karnataka is known as a peaceful and progressive state, historically acclaimed for its advancements in ITBT. However, over the past year, Karnataka has become famous for scandals, murders and violence against women. It has been a year since the Congress government came to power and for the first time in the Vidhan Sabha, slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad" were raised. Such slogans have also become a regular occurrence in Karnataka's Chief Minister's events as in every program of the CM, slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad '' are raised. Despite ongoing violence and murders targeting college students, the Karnataka Chief Minister's focus is upon defending the accused.
Union Minister Sushri Karandlaje highlighted that the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah shows no concern for the safety and development of the state and its people, he himself is implicated in scandals. Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah, had unlawfully acquired 14 sites in Mysuru’s MUDA in 2022. Sushri Karandlaje further explained the instances regarding the incident and highlighted that in 1992, MUDA acquired land in Kesare village and offered compensation of ₹3.81 lakh, which Parvathi Siddaramaiah reportedly did not accept. Siddaramaiah, who was Finance Minister at the time, remained silent on the matter. During his tenure as Deputy CM in 1998 and as Finance Minister again in 2002, Siddaramaiah remained silent when MUDA issued notifications. In 2021, Parvathi Siddaramaiah wrote to MUDA - "I want compensation on a 50-50 basis". In 2015, MUDA introduced a law requiring 50% land development, which was prospective, not retrospective and did not apply to Parvathi Siddaramaiah. In 2017, Siddaramaiah pressured for compensation. In 2022, Parvathi Siddaramaiah was allotted 14 sites in the heart of Mysuru, in Vijayanagar 3rd stage and 4th stage. This entire instance is against the law, with Siddaramaiah himself being the beneficiary. Siddaramaiah should resign as he holds a constitutional post and has requested all MUDA files to be brought to Bangalore, making every effort to conceal this case.`
Sushri Karandlaje has alleged that Siddaramaiah has continuously held offices of profit, which she believes has led to a major scam in MUDA that requires an independent investigation. She accuses Siddaramaiah of misusing his authority by appointing a single retired judge committee to probe the matter, suggesting a conspiracy to cover up the case. The Kempanna Commission was initially set up to investigate irregularities in the Arkavathy Layout between 2013 and 2018, involving alleged illegal denotification of 541 land sites by the Siddaramaiah government. Despite this, the findings of the Kempanna Commission have not been made public. Recently, the state government formed the Desai Committee, another single-judge committee. It is claimed that pressure from the Chief Minister's Office has prevented the Lokayukta from filing an FIR against Siddaramaiah under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Union Minister Sushri Karandlaje has demanded the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah and called for him to face trial in the Valmiki Development Corporation case. This corporation, dedicated to the development of Scheduled Tribes (ST), saw ₹187 crore transferred from Union Bank to another bank in RMB Bank in Banjara Hills, Karnataka in March. Subsequently, funds from the second bank were diverted to various wine shops and jewelry shops. An officer of the Valmiki Development Corporation named Chandrashekhar, in a 6-page suicide note, highlighted the money laundering and the pressure to remain silent about it. An SIT was established to investigate the matter, but it has not made any progress. Following Union Bank's report to the CBI, the ED made several arrests, and Minister BV Nagendra resigned. Allegedly, CM Siddaramaiah exerted pressure on individuals and used these funds for election campaigns in Telangana.
Sushri Karandlaje revealed that the transfer of ₹187 crore to Hyderabad was executed under Siddaramaiah's supervision, as he was the Finance Minister of the state at the time. Siddaramaiah has remained silent on the issue and allegedly obstructed the investigation by not providing necessary files and documents to the CBI and SIT. The BJP is demanding Siddaramaiah's resignation in both cases. They allege that the Karnataka government has become the ATM of the Congress party, with funds transferred to Hyderabad allegedly on the direction of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Funds meant for the Ganga Kalyan Yojana and the development of education for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Dalits in Karnataka have reportedly been misused. The Congress in Karnataka is accused of repeatedly violating the Constitution. Ironically, Congress leaders in Parliament pledge allegiance to the Constitution while questions remain about the disappearance of allocated funds for Scheduled Castes (SCs).
Union Minister Sushri Karandlaje has demanded that Rahul Gandhi answer for the whereabouts of funds allocated to SCSP/TSP (Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and Tribal Sub Plan) in Karnataka. There is a specific statutory allocation for SCs and STs in each department, mandating 17% for SC development and 6.5% for ST development. However, it has been alleged that 24% of the allocated funds in Karnataka were diverted to "guarantees". A total of ₹14,735 crore from SCSP/TSP funds were diverted towards Congress’ guarantees. She criticized the Congress for advocating the Constitution and fighting against corruption nationwide, while under AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s state of Karnataka, funds are allegedly being diverted.
Sushri Karandlaje has criticized the Congress party, pointing out discrepancies in their promises. While Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy claims the Transport department is profitable by ₹4,000 crore, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Chairman has warned of bankruptcy, leading to increased bus fares. Additionally, electricity prices have doubled, and fuel and milk prices have risen, severely impacting the common man. Rather than ‘Khatakhat’ fulfilling their promise of transferring ₹8,000 to people's accounts, the Congress is misappropriating public funds. Women wait in lines in front of banks for Congress' promises, which remain unfulfilled. Each week reveals a new scandal in Karnataka. Allegations include the misappropriation of food meant for children in Anganwadis and depositing funds allocated for loans by the Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank into Congress party accounts.
