Senior BJP Leader and former Union Minister Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, on Tuesday. During the conference, Shri Chandrasekhar highlighted that the Karnataka High Court rejected the plea of sitting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA land scam. Shri Chandrasekhar called for Siddaramaiah’s immediate resignation to facilitate a free and independent investigation into these serious allegations of corruption.

Shri Chandrasekhar emphasized that following the 2023 elections in Karnataka, where Rahul Gandhi's Congress had the opportunity to serve in the government based on numerous promises, it marked their first round of politics involving fake promises. Corruption has reached unprecedented levels among the constituent parties of the INDI Alliance. A Chief Minister from the alliance did not resign even after being jailed in a liquor scam. Leaders of the INDI Alliance, including those from Congress, have thoroughly compromised the integrity of politics. The situation in Karnataka mirrors this, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been accused of involvement in the MUDA scam, with the High Court dismissing his petition and affirming that the allegations appear valid prima facie. Nevertheless, Siddaramaiah has not resigned, nor have the Congress Party or Rahul Gandhi taken action to remove him from his position as Chief Minister.

Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar pointed out that the law and order situation in Karnataka is at an all-time low. Karnataka's economy was in significant distress and the Congress government, under Siddaramaiah's leadership, had consistently claimed they lacked funds for development. The supposed impacts of Congress governance had been in play for several months, and the people of Karnataka, as well as those of India, were aware of this. He questioned the reasons Congress governments under Rahul Gandhi came to power, along with their primary objectives. Why does Congress make fake promises and why are they repeatedly exposed and embarrassed for their inability to deliver on those commitments?

Shri Chandrasekhar questioned why Congress continues to insist on making fake promises in other state elections. The reason is "corruption." Today, the Karnataka High Court rejected the plea of sitting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to stay the investigation order issued by the Governor of Karnataka against him and his family, who are involved in the MUDA land scam.

Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar stated that the situation is akin to a thief being caught red-handed while reaching for a jar of cookies. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been accused based on factual evidence. When the investigation agency requested permission from the Karnataka Governor to investigate the MUDA land scam case involving Siddaramaiah, the Governor approved after seeking legal advice. Later, when Siddaramaiah filed a petition in the High Court to stop the investigation, the court dismissed his petition, stating that the case appeared valid prima facie and refusing to halt the inquiry. This entire sequence of events is well-documented.

Shri Chandrasekhar stated that it was when the Governor sanctioned the prosecution that there was a flurry of activity, prompting Siddaramaiah to go to court to attempt to have the order stayed. Now, the reality has been presented to the public: the High Court has effectively validated the actions of the Governor. This situation raises many questions, but the primary question concerns corruption.

Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar stated that over the last year and a half of Siddaramaiah's tenure as Chief Minister, there have been numerous instances of public money being looted. He highlighted the Valmiki Corporation scam, detailing how funds were misappropriated and also pointed out how the family of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge awarded themselves land. The Valmiki Tribal Development Corporation scam involved the illegal transfer of over ₹180 crores. Additionally, ₹83 crores were directly transferred from the Finance Department, which could not have happened without the Chief Minister's knowledge. Consequently, he is fully implicated in this matter and equally guilty.

Shri Chandrasekhar stated that for DK Shivakumar, a minister in the Congress government in Karnataka, involvement in corruption and scams would not be seen as wrong. Siddaramaiah and his ministers are fully aligned with the moral standards of the Congress party, as the party sees nothing wrong in the MUDA land scam, Valmiki scam, and similar issues. While the court, the Governor, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the public consider these acts of looting and scamming to be wrong, the Congress party does not. This is because the Congress has a lengthy history of scams.

Senior BJP leader Shri Chandrasekhar remarked that Siddaramaiah is merely continuing the long-standing tradition of the Congress party, under Rahul Gandhi, of coming into power in the name of the poor, making false promises, but ultimately enriching themselves and their families. The BJP now demands that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah immediately tender his resignation and allow for a free and independent investigation into these serious allegations of corruption.

Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar noted that there isn't a single Congress leader in Karnataka today who isn’t involved in some form of scam. The MUDA case is a blatant example of how a sitting Chief Minister has misused his office for personal gain. Today’s High Court judgment paves the way for an investigation into this alleged crime. The BJP, therefore, calls upon Siddaramaiah to resign immediately and enable a fair, independent investigation into these corruption allegations.
