A press conference was conducted at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s headquarters in New Delhi, by Senior BJP Leader and Member of Parliament Smt Locket Chatterjee on Monday. During the press conference, Smt Locket Chatterjee exposed the horrifying atrocities inflicted by TMC Leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his mafia gang in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali. Smt Chatterjee questioned CM Mamata Banerjee's silence and inaction as women cry out for justice. Smt Locket Chatterjee also criticized the TMC-ruled West Bengal police administration, accusing them of being under Sheikh Shahjahan's control and functioning as an extension of TMC's party interests.
BJP MP Smt Locket Chatterjee highlighted that, for the past few days, women's voices have been rising from West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, but no one is listening to them; this is a shame for the state. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is reviving the same Mughal rule we read about in history. Sandeshkhali, located 30-35 km from Kolkata, is a place where Sheikh Shahjahan, Shiba Hajra, Uttam Sardar run a mafia. During the Left Front's tenure, these individuals operated a mafia rule there, and locals have repeatedly spoken out against their terrorist mafia gang, calling for their arrest and punishment. However, in 34 years, the Left Front took no action.
Smt Locket Chatterjee highlighted that after the TMC government took over, they gave Sheikh Shahjahan an official position and made him the don of that area. He harassed women for years, calling them late at night, both married and unmarried, to come to his place. When women refused, the goons threatened to kill their husbands and children. Women were forced to go to save their families. Once the goons were satisfied, they would send the women back after 2-3 days. These heinous acts are being narrated by the women themselves through television.
BJP MP Smt Locket Chatterjee mentioned that, those goons confiscated their land, job cards, and Aadhar cards. When they resisted giving up their land, the goons would flood their fields with saltwater to prevent them from farming. They were left with no choice. When women attempted to complain to the police, they were told to first seek permission from Sheikh Shahjahan and his gang before an FIR could be filed. Smt Chatterjee highlighted that Mamata Banerjee mentioned yesterday that there isn't a single FIR against Sheikh Shahjahan's gang and that’s because the police are under his control. Smt Chaterjee alleged that the entire police administration has turned it into TMC's party office. All this was happening right in front of the police. Just for 30% of votes, Mamata Banerjee got Hindu women kidnapped and destroyed their lives. She hasn't even issued a statement on this matter. Sheikh Sahjahan is still absconding. Yesterday, Shiba Hajra and Uttam Sardar were arrested, but the whereabouts of the main man, Sheikh Shahjahan, are still unknown. His entire family is in contact with him, but the police have yet to locate him. Mamata Banerjee has hidden Sheikh Shahjahan in her lap because Lok Sabha elections are coming. She needs those 30% votes.
Smt Locket Chatterjee conveyed that Hindu women's dignity and honor are being looted in West Bengal for merely 500 rupees. Recently, it has been announced in the state budget that the amount provided to women will increase from 500 to 1000 rupees, while Hindu women are being harassed on the other side. When the representatives from the media reached there, women gave bytes with their faces covered, out of fear. As their homes get looted once the TMC goons identify them. So far, everyone has heard about ISIS, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, but today the same is happening in West Bengal, yet Mamata Banerjee is completely silent on this issue, claiming that all of this has been done by the RSS. Mamata Didi was elected by the public in 2011, and women voted for her in large numbers so that in the 34 years of Communist rule in West Bengal, women, in particular, were the most unsafe. Mamata Banerjee is the only female chief minister in the country, and in her own state, women are the most unsafe.
Smt Locket highlighted that Mamata Banerjee still claims for those women to be outsiders, even though those women are showing their Aadhar cards as proof that they are not outsiders. Despite the harassment, rape, and abduction of Hindu women for so long, Sheikh Shahjahan has not been investigated. When BJP leader Shri Sukanta Majumdar went to Sandeshkhali, he was also stopped and attacked, which led to him being hospitalized. When LoP Shri Suvendu Adhikari went there, he was also stopped by the TMC administration. The police administration couldn't stop the atrocities against women earlier, but why are they stopping those who are raising their voices against it now? Today, when the NCW Commission was about to arrive, they were also prohibited to visit. Women in Sandeshkhali are receiving threats at their homes from both the police and TMC goons, warning that if they appear in front of the camera, their families will be annihilated. But now, women in West Bengal have taken up swords and sticks together. Now, in West Bengal, even from houses where Mamata Banerjee’ pictures are pasted, women have raised their voices against the atrocities, there is no politics involved, but rather, it is a spontaneous outburst.
BJP MP Smt Locket Chatterjee asserted when the Enforcement Directorate searched Sheikh Shahjahan's house to find him, the ED officers were attacked, and their heads were smashed. Jyotipriya Mallick, who is currently in jail, is believed to have the blessings of Sheikh Shajahan. Babu Master and Sheikh Shahjahan are big names in West Bengal's mafia world and they have complete control over Sandeshkhali 1 and Sandeshkhali 2, nothing moves there without their consent. Mamata Banerjee knows very well where Sheikh Shahjahan has gone after crossing the border. West Bengal is the land of Rabindranath Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Maa Sharada, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. But today, West Bengal has become a state that suppresses the voices of women and perpetrates atrocities against them. The entire TMC party is a stain on women. The people want a West Bengal where women are safe, and in 2024, the people will respond by throwing Mamata Banerjee and the entire TMC out of power.
Smt Locket Chatterjee pointed out that American journalist Janet Levy had made such revelations in 2015 and expressed concern in her article ‘The Muslim Takeover of West Bengal’ that West Bengal would soon become an Islamic state. Smt Chatterjee also criticized Mamata Banerjee for being insincere about women and speaking very poorly and dishonestly about them. BJP wants women in West Bengal to receive opportunities and progress just like women are being respected and advancing under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the entire country. However, this is not happening solely because of Mamata Banerjee. Sandeshkhali should not become a household name. Bharatiya Janata Party demands the Mamata government to take strict action against Sheikh Shahjahan, the main culprit of Sandeshkhali, as soon as possible..
Smt Chatterjee concluded her address by stating that Mamata Banerjee's promise to restore the dignity of the women of Sandeshkhali who were raped, rings hollow, as she accuses them of lying. It is imperative to rescue Bengal from its current state and the time has come to oust Mamata Banerjee's government from West Bengal.
