General Budget 2022-23 is the budget to change the scale of India's economy

The Union Budget presented by the Shri Narendra Modi Government in Parliament today is a visionary budget which is going to change the scale of the Indian economy in the years to come. This Budget will not only make India an 'Atmanirbhar' (self-reliant) country, but will also lay a strong foundation of a New India as we move towards the 100th year of our Independence. And for this I thank and congratulate our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman ji.

The scale of expenditure in our Budget has been scaled up to Rs 39.45 lakh crores, and it shows strong growth, strength and resilience of the Indian economy even in the trying times of Corona pandemic. The target of reducing the fiscal deficit from 6.9% to 6.4% is also a remarkable achievement. I am fully confident that under the leadership and guidance of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, India will be successful in bringing down its fiscal deficit to 4%.

The Union Budget is a visionary budget aimed at making India 'Atmanirbhar'. This Budget has come at a time when India is facing the challenge of the Corona pandemic, and I am fully confident that under the leadership and guidance of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji the Budget will help India establish itself as a strong, robust and leading economy in the world.

Today our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has taken a strong and important step by reducing AMT rate in the cooperative sector from 18.5% to 15% and surcharge from 12% to 7%, thus ending discrimination against the cooperative sector and bringing it at par with other sectors. This important step will fulfill the commitment and dream of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji of making a strong and prosperous nation through strong cooperative movement.

Zero budget agriculture, natural farming, river linking, 'One station - One product' and Kisan drone are some of key initiatives announced in the Union Budget that will give a big boost to the agriculture sector, modernize our agriculture, make our farmers self-reliant and empowered. It will achieve the commitment of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji of making our farmers strong and 'Atmanirbhar' and help in doubling the income of our farmers.

I also thank and congratulate the Narendra Modi Government for increasing India's capital expenditure by 35% to reach Rs.7.5 lakh crores. Another important announcement in the Budget is the increase in funds that are given to the states from Rs 15000 crores to Rs. 1 lakh crores, which will greatly strengthen our federal structure and ensure all round development of our states.

To improve financial inclusion, provision has also been made in the Budget to connect 1.5 lakh post offices with core banking which will help our rural areas and villages besides facilitating senior citizens across the country. Similarly, to promote digital payments the Budget has made provision to open 75  'Digital Banks' in 75 districts. It is a welcome step.

The growth and development of the North-East region has always been the top priority of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. The announcement of the 'PM Development Initiative' for the Northern states will fulfill the commitment of our Hon’ble Prime Minister of making the region prosperous, self-reliant and happy.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is highly committed to improve the living standard of poor and weaker sections of the society. On these lines the Narendra Modi government has launched several initiatives. In the Budget a provision of Rs.60,000 crores have been made to provide piped water to every home, and another Rs.48,000 crore to build 80 lakh new homes under PM Awas Yojana for poor people.
