The vast public support and affection the Bharatiya Janata Party is getting clearly proves that the Bharatiya Janata Party will emerge as the single largest party in the assembly elections this time. Our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji wants development and growth of Meghalaya, he was to make Northeast the gateway of development and progress, and to make this possible we need the support and affection of the people of Meghalaya and Northeast region.

Our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has so far visited Northeast region 51 times and has given a new impetus to the growth and development of the region. Since our Independence no other Prime Minister has made so many visits to the Northeast than our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. This clearly proves the commitment of our Honourable Prime Minister for the development, growth and progress of entire Northeast region.

Due to the mismanagement and poor governance of the current state government the fiscal deficit of Meghalaya in 2022-23 has increased to Rs 1849 crores. And this is due to rampant corruption in the state. The scale of corruption and nepotism in Meghalaya is unprecedented, in fact it is highest in the country, which is a matter of deep concern.

The Meghalaya Energy Corporation has reached the brink of shut down. According to the RBI report, Meghalaya today has the slowest growth rate. All the schemes and programmes of the Narendra Modi Government for Meghalaya are wasted before they reach the state for implementation. The Bharatiya Janata Party is highly committed to make Meghalaya a corruption free state. Our government will ensure rapid development of Meghalaya.

The Narendra Modi Government has started writing a new chapter of growth, development progress and prosperity of Meghalaya by ensuring peace and tranquility in the state. Earlier everyday we used to hear about bandh, strikes, blockade, firing, violence, blasts, insurgency and abductions in the state. Many young people have lost their lives due to violence and insurgency. But all this has changed under the leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and there is peace and development all-around the state.

Since the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji more than 8000 members of various insurgency groups have surrendered and joined the national mainstream. I appeal to all the groups in Meghalaya that they should all come forward for talks with the government. I appeal to them to come and join the agenda of development and growth of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.

As compared to the 10 years of the Congress party led UPA government rule, the Narendra Modi Government in the last 8 years have increased the central grant to the Northeast by around 150 per cent. During the UPA government the central grant for the Northeast used to be just Rs 13,000 crore, whereas under the Narendra Modi Government it has increased to over Re 22,000 crores.

During the past 8 years the Narendra Modi Government has invested over Rs 5,000 crores on the development of national highways in Meghalaya. This amount is more than total amount of money spent in the past 40 years.

Under the Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna in the past 8 years the amount of roads built in the state is much higher than what was built in the past 20 years. As compared to 2014 the Narendra Modi Government has laid 8 times more optic fibre in the state. Similarly, the Bharatiya Janata Party government has also installed over 6,000 new mobile towers in Meghalaya. The work of the Narendra Modi Government speaks for itself.

The people of Meghalaya have also been greatly benefited from various schemes of the Narendra Modi Government. For instance, 21 lakh people of Meghalaya were benefited under the Pradhanmantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojna, 2 lakh farmers under the Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna, 68,000 poor people got pucca homes under the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna and 1.5 la kk h families in the state were benefited from the Pradhanmantri Ujjawala Yojna.

Once the Bharatiya Janata Party government is formed in Meghalaya we will establish a Medical College in Garo Hills so that youth of the state do not have to travel outside the state for medical education. This will also increase and improve nursing facilities in the state. Our government has opened 39 new Eklavya Model schools in Meghalaya. Our government will also work on the policy of introducing education in Garo language in the state.

We have also decided to establish IT Parks in Khasi, Jantiya and Tura regions of the state. Our government will also develop an SEZ in Meghalaya which will create employment opportunities for the youth and give new direction to the development and growth of the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Meghalaya will also give funds worth over Rs 100 crores for the development of MSME sector in the state.

For the fast development and growth of the entire Northeast region our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has started PM-DevINE scheme and for this a provision of Rs 6,000 crores has also been kept in the Central Budget. There will be no paucity of funds for the growth and development of Meghalaya and the Northeast region. Under the leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji the journey of fast-track growth and development of the Northeast region has already begun.
