It is very unfortunate and a matter of grave concern that politics is being played out in the country even as people are suffering and fighting the worst ever crisis in the human history due to Covid pandemic, particularly in Delhi where petty politics is being done to weaken the fight against Covid pandemic.

Delhi government and some other state governments run by opposition parties have tried to shift blame of their abject failures in dealing with the situation by trying to shift the blame on the Central government for their failure of managing the shortage of oxygen in their states. Whereas as per the interview of our frontline hero BMC Commissioner Shri Iqbal Singh Chahal ji, who had led a remarkable fight against Corona pandemic in Mumbai, the truth and reality is entirely different.

In his interview the BMC Commissioner Shri Iqbal Singh Chahal has exposed the lies of opposition parties run state governments and categorically stated that how the Central government had responded within seconds to the SOS call of the BMC authorities regarding the shortage of oxygen in Mumbai and that the swift response of the Central government to the BMC authorities on the shortage of oxygen has addressed this critical issue and helped Mumbai in its fight against the Corona pandemic.

When the BMC Commissioner Shri Iqbal Singh Chahal ji was asked whether some states are accusing the Central government regarding the shortage of oxygen supplies in their states, he said the kind of stories that are coming forward , they are all far from the truth. The Central government cannot be blamed for it. If anyone is to be blamed for this fiasco, then it is the state governments that have failed to deal with the oxygen crisis.

The interview of the BMC Commissioner Shri Iqbal Singh Chahal ji exposes the failures and major shortcomings of state governments like Delhi that how they failed miserably in their Covid management and supply of oxygen, and now to cover up their gross negligence and abject failures they are trying to blame the Central government.

On April 26 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his press conference said that the Delhi government was going to give order for procurement of 1.34 crore vaccine doses and that necessary approvals for it have already been given, and now in his press conference he is saying that Delhi has nothing for the vaccination drive.

The truth is that apart from free vaccine doses that the Central government is providing to all state governments, the Delhi government has placed orders for procurement of only 5.50 lakh vaccine doses. This clearly proves that Arvind Kejriwal openly lied on live television during his press conference and he is trying to befool and mislead the people of Delhi by just indulging in his own image making exercise.

In Delhi the first dose coverage of healthcare workers in the vaccination drive was 77.67 % and the second dose coverage for them was just 53 %. Similarly, the first dose coverage for frontline workers in Delhi in the vaccination drive was 79 % where the second dose coverage for them was just 50 %.

In Delhi the first dose coverage for people above 60 years of age in the vaccination drive was 48.88 % while the second dose coverage for them in the vaccination drive was just 17.29 %. Similarly, in the vaccination drive in Delhi the first dose coverage for people above 45 years of age was just 41.08 % while the second dose coverage for them was a poor 8.93 %.

The people of Delhi should know this is the reality of the Kejriwal government. When Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was supposed to make a vaccination policy for the people of Delhi he was busy on his own image building by totally focusing on his own advertisements. Arvind Kejriwal failed miserably in improving the healthcare system and medical infrastructure of Delhi.

When the Central government ensured 730 metric tonnes of oxygen supply for Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal had personally thanked the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. But within minutes the Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Raghav Chadda says Delhi needs 976 metric tonnes of medical oxygen. The Arvind Kejriwal government needs to rectify its own statistics and records and stop playing politics with the people of Delhi.

The Delhi government failed to make arrangements for cryogenic tankers for supply of medical oxygen, it has also to manage the supply and distribution of oxygen in Delhi. The Arvind Kejriwal government is not ready to get an oxygen audit conducted in Delhi whereas we see that from a property of Imran Hussain, who is a minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government, 400- 500 oxygen cylinders are seized at a time when there is oxygen crisis and people are suffering.

What is the reason why the Arvind Kejriwal government is not ready for medical oxygen audit in Delhi? Where are the medical oxygen supplies going? Where are the medical oxygen supplies being wasted in Delhi and where it is really being spent? All this will not be known until a proper auditing of medical oxygen supply and consumption is conducted in Delhi.

A few weeks ago the Delhi government was asked in an RTI query how many ventilators did the Arvind Kejriwal government buy between July 2020 and April 2021, and the reply to this RTI was Zero. Which means that in the last one year when there was Corona pandemic the Arvind Kejriwal government did not buy a single ventilator.

The Arvind Kejriwal government in 2015-16 spent Rs 81.23 crores on advertisements, spent Rs.67.25 crores in 2016-17 on advertisements, Rs. 117.76 crores in 2017-18, in 2018-19 Rs. 45.54 crores, Rs. 199.99 crores in 2019-20 and in 2020-21 Rs. 293.16 crores were spent on advertisements and image making of Arvind Kejriwal; where no step was taken to upgrade and strengthen the medical and healthcare infrastructure of Delhi.

Before coming to power in 2015 Arvind Kejriwal had said his government would add 30,000 beds in Delhi hospitals. But the questions that need to be asked to Arvind Kejriwal is how many new beds have been added to hospitals in Delhi and how many new hospitals have been built in Delhi after the formation of the AAP government.

One year ago on April 7 , 2020 the Central government had said to the Arvind Kejriwal government that it can convert industrial oxygen into liquid medical oxygen ; but despite the Central government letters the Arvind Kejriwal government failed to act on it. And now they are acting like cry babies and saying that medical oxygen is not being given to them.

In December 2020 there were proposals to construct 8 PSAs in Delhi government run hospitals. Despite money being given from the PM Cares Fund to Delhi, the Arvind Kejriwal government failed to start a single PSA in its hospital to ensure smooth supply of oxygen. PSAs were constructed in many hospitals across the country, but the Arvind Kejriwal government could not build a single PSA in Delhi hospitals as it was busy in its promotions through advertisements.

Despite repeated reminders from the Central government and highlighting of lacunae and shortcomings in Delhi government health preparedness and poor infrastructure in the wake of Corona pandemic the Arvind Kejriwal government failed to take any steps to improve healthcare and medical infrastructure of Delhi, and this is the real reason why Delhi’s health scenario today look so bleak and shattered.

Disturbing news has come from Tikri Border where a Bengali woman who took part in Kisan Andolan was allegedly raped by some so called Kisan leaders. This is very unfortunate and shameful news. Some newspapers have even reported that Yogendra Yadav knew about this grewsome incident of rape but he did not tell anything to the police.
