Salient Points of the speech of Senior BJP Leader & Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar

India has succeeded in reducing poverty to a great extent and by 2030 we hope to eradicate it completely, said BJP senior leader and Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar. In a crowded Press Conference, he said that the BJP government is relentlessly working on the eradication of poverty in the country.

Shri Javadekar referred to the statistics provided by World Data Lab which is based on advance models and is accepted worldwide. It has said that in India extreme poverty is reducing at a very fast pace. In 2012 in rural India 14% people were under extreme poverty line but now it is only 4% which is a significant number. It means that 10% people got out of the extreme poverty limit. It’s a big leap.

The minister said that in urban areas there were 9.5% people in the extreme poverty line and it is now reduced to only 3.5%. he took a jibe on Congress and said that the party eliminated poor people but BJP government under Shri Narendra Modi has eradicated poverty. This is the basic difference between the two parties.

Shri Javadekar said that there is Global Multidimensional Poverty Index and its report confirms this fact. It says that India’s condition has improved significantly.  According to another survey, the number of those earning Rs. 135 per day or less has been reduced to now only 5 crore from 2011’s figure of 26 crore. Shri Javadekar said we will completely eradicate this number. The minister further said that according to Brookings report poverty has reduced significantly in India. Modi Govt’s strategy has been very successful in this regard.
