BJP National President, Shri Amit Shah’s press statement on on the landslide victory of BJP in Chandigarh civic body elections

Shri Amit Shah, the BJP National President have congratulated the people of Chandigarh, BJP workers and the officials of the organization for the spectacular win in the Chandigarh Municipal Elections. He said that the election held after the demonetization drive, the people of this country has stamps in favor of the Prime Minister’s decision.

Shri Shah said, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi-led BJP government in center is formulating policies which are development-oriented and people have supported this by their heart. He said that the elections held after the decision of Demonetization, BJP has won in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra civic polls and Assembly and Lok Sabha by-elections. The results clearly show that the opposition is indulging in the politics on the issue of demonetization and politicizing the issue.

The BJP president said, after the decision of demonetization, the elections held in different parts of the country, the people of this country has clearly shown the opposition what is the mood of the public and what is the direction of politics. He said, the BJP's landslide victory in Chandigarh, is result of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and BJP's Vision and BJP’s “Politics of Performance" in the nation's public policy, it is another example of unwavering faith and trust of the people of this country. He thanked people and congratulated BJP workers for this spectacular victory.

After the verdict of demonetization, unprecedented consecutive victories in civic body polls and by-elections polls one after the other, Shri Shah expressed deep appreciation and said the Congress has become a symbol of negative politics in the country.

Be it known that civic elections held on December 18, 2016 in Chandigarh for 26 seats, BJP has won 21 seats. The BJP, which contested elections for 22 seats, won 20 seats while its ally SAD won one seat. In the last elections, the BJP won 15 seats. In previous elections, the Congress had won nine seats, while the number has dropped to just four this year for Congress. After the decision of Demonetization, this is the fourth straight win for the BJP in the civic elections held in the country.
