Salient points of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s interaction with Mahila Morcha Karyakartas of BJP Karnataka

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with the members and office bearers of BJP’s Karnataka Mahila Morcha through the medium of Namo App video bridge. He said that the BJP Government was not just working towards “Women Empowerment” but is also committed towards “Women-led Development”.

Shri Narendra Modi praised the members of BJP Mahila Morcha for their vital role in Karnataka’s assembly polls and said that every members need to go at booth level and contact women in the families to make them aware of government initiatives. “We will win and will certainly win,” said Shri Modi.  

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that BJP has always given priority to women and therefore encouraged State Governments and centre to work towards women empowerment and women led development. Showing the portraits of Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Shri Modi said that both the strong women were projecting women empowerment of India in the entire world.

The Prime Minister during the occasion also expressed condolences on the demise of dedicated MLA Vijay Kumar from Karnataka’s Jayanagar.

Shri Narendra Modi said that women’s contribution for the development of Karnataka has been colossal and cited the examples of Rani Chennamma from Kittur,Keladi Chennamma, Belawadi Mallamma, Rani Abbakka, Chitradurga Devi among other. He also paid tribute to prominent singer Dr Gangubai Hangal and Kalyannamma. He during the interaction also remembered ISRO's strong women team for the contribution in the “launch of Mangalyaan”.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also stated that it is the Central government which awarded Sulagutti Narasamma and Sitavva Jodtti with Padma Shri awards for becoming symbols of women empowerment.

Shri Modi also said that BJP’s women party workers who with their hard work and respect changed the perception of how people looked at women’s contribution towards party and the country’s politics. BJP women workers will go doors to doors in Karnataka and expose the lies of the Congress.

Mentioning about various benefits due to the programs and schemes of the BJP led Central Government, Shri Modi said:

  • Due to 'Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao' scheme the sex ratio has improved in the country. After the successful implementation of the programme in 161 districts, the programme is being extended to 640 other districts.
  • Over Rs 8,000 crore loans have been received by women under Stand Up Yojana scheme.
  • Over  16.5 crore women have benefited from the Jan dhan yojana.
  • Women Self Help Groups have witnessed 173% surge in the total loan amount under the Rashtriya Gramin Ajivika Mission.
  • Around 9 crore women benefited by getting loans under the Mudra Yojana.
  • Maternity leave period has been extended from 12 weeks to 26 weeks for the working women.
  • Availability of Creche facility for women employees in offices having more than 50 employees.
  • Over 1.26 crore bank accounts have been opened for the future of girl child under the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme in which over Rs 19,000 crore have been saved.  In Karnataka as well over 10 lakh such accounts have been opened.
  • Over 4 lakh free health check ups and over 10 lakh vaccinations of mothers and children were done in the Karnataka under the Under the Safe Maternity Mission.
  • Nearly 9.70 women in Karnataka received free gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana.
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also apprised the people of Karnataka about the flagship programmes started by the erstwhile Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka such as Bhagyalakshmi Yojana, Sanjeevani Yojana and Free Cycle Yojana. 

Shri Modi also answered to the questions of the BJP karyakartas whose salient points are as follows:

  • Moral ethics from family and society is the prior step behind checking crime against women.
  • Once male children are aware of their limitations only then he will get to know about the norms of society and hence won’t take any such step that can be termed as anti social act.
  •  Role of mother is very vital however, tendencies of some person show that rules and regulations are not important for them. In such cases it is important to show them the strength of law and order.
  • Recently, the Central Government has strengthened many criminal acts and regulations such as CRPC, IPC and POCSO act. Such move will prevent rape of girl child as the act ensures death penalty. In some cases the minimum imprisonment has been extended from 10 years to 20 years.
  • Central Government is also ensuring that the culprits are punished immediately after the crime and the case does not remain pending. Government is also working towards ensuring trial of the cases should happen within limited the time and setting up of new fast track courts.
  • Our Government has initiated Yojanas focusing on the initial stage of pregnancy, trimesters, birth of the child, their education, career among others, and properly implemented them.

First stage: towards women development  Pregnancy

  • Our Government has initiated various initiatives from the stage of pregnancy such as health and maternity leave to ensure that the pregnancy is safe and there is no health problem with the mother and the child. And also ensured that after the delivery the mother and child get all the basic needs and their life remains stress free.
  • We started the programme of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” to ensure that the girl child is not killed in the womb of the mother. 
  • In various Gender sensitive districts of the country, Central Government has initiated the Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao scheme which ensured improvement in sex ratio. Government also implemented the scheme in entirety on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.
  • To ensure that the health of women remains in good condition during pregnancy, the Central Government has initiated Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana under which Rs 6000 is being given to the pregnancy mothers for their nutrition. Over Rs 2,000 crore has been spent under the scheme.
  • Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan has been initiated to ensure there is no difficulty for the women during pregnancy. Over 1 crore pregnancy checkups and lakhs of tests were done to ensure safe pregnancies.
  • Over 80 lakh pregnant women were vaccinated under Mission Indradhanush, started by the Central Government to ensure proper vaccination for pregnant women ion far flung areas.
  • Central Government also started the National Nutrition Mission.

Second Stage: Education of girl child

  • Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana was initiated for girl child along with scholarships and its outcome show empowerment of girl child.
  • Lakhs of toilets were setup in schools under Swachh Bharat Mission.
  • To ensure financial security for the girl children Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was initiated; and over 1.25 crore bank accounts were opened for the girl child and till now Rs 19,000 was saved in total.

Third Stage: Career of daughters

  • Under Prime Minister Mudra Yojana, the Central Government has accepted loan worth Rs 12 crore and over Rs 5 Lakh crore worth loan has been given to people. However, 70 % of the beneficiaries are women and daughters. 
  • Our Government has fixed the target of giving loan of Rs 3 lakh crore.
  • Stand Up India has been a boon for the women in India. Under the scheme women are receiving loan from Rs 50,000 crore to 1 crore.
  • 50 % of the beneficiaries under the Skill Development are women.
  • To ensure that new mothers take care of their newborns ina proper way, the Central Government increased the maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks.
  • Concerned for the women employees, it is the Central Government that had brought changes under the factory act and informed the states to make arrangement so that women employees can also work at night.

Fourth Stage: While growing

  • BJP stands with the women of the country and has initiated various schemes for them such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana among others. Under this they have to pay premium of only 90 paise per day and Rs 1 per month and avail life insurance. Government has also initiated Atal Pension Yojana.
  • Women have received facilities and respect under Swachh Bharat Mission. The area under Swachh Bharat Mission in the rural region has increased from 40 % to 82 %. In a mission mode, our Government has set up toilets in every school for the girl students. Apart from safety, such initiative also prevents the girl students from quitting the school. 
  • Women are not just changing our present but also our future. In every arena they are contributing a lot. May it be Olympics or Commonwealth they are making the country proud in every arena. Women are also in the Army and their progress is visible.
  • It is our Government that has taken the decision to induct women in combat role.
  • It is our Government that reserved 33 % seats for women in the police forces of Central Government governed states.
  • Our Government has also changed rules in the Passport and the women don’t have to present certificate of divorce or marriage for the passport.
  • Our Government has given priority to register houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the names of women.
  • With the contribution of women; the Country progresses. The New India is possible only when there is women empowerment and they contribute to the country’s development equally.
