BJP National president Shri Amit Shah on Saturday addressed the media at the party headquarters on the completion of four years of Narendra Modi Government, and discussed in details about various schemes and initiatives taken by the BJP-led NDA Government. Shri Shah congratulated Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and his cabinet colleagues for working diligently to extend the welfare schemes to the people in every corner of the country. People have full faith in Narendra Modi and BJP will form the Government once again in 2019 with a greater majority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that it was a matter of pride that people of the country were witnessing transparent and clean Governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Shah said that Narendra Modi Government was known for taking bold decisions, and is sensitive towards the issues of common people in the country.
From Hopelessness and Sorrow to Exciteness and Hopefulness
When Shri Narendra Modi was chosen as Prime Minister, he spoke about several key issues relating to the country. The two most important were that the NDA Government will be dedicated for the welfare of Farmers, Dalits, Minority communities, Backwards among others and secondly the Government will work for India’s pride at global platform. Shri Shah informed that the mandate BJP got in 2014 gave a stable Government to the country with a clear majority. The current Modi Government became the first non-Congress government to get such a clear majority.
Today, after four years, when we look back at the promises then it is clearly visible that both of them have been fulfilled. BJP is proud of the fact that under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, the country has received a transparent and stable Government. A Government that can take bold decisions, work for welfare of the poor and the deprived. Ever since the BJP’s Modi Government has come into existence, there have been many challenges and questions from the opposition. Many asked if it is a pro farmers Government or pro industrialist Government. Narendra Modi Government has proved that he can work for the welfare and upliftment of farmer’s lives while at the same time bringing discipline in the country’s economy.
Freedom from Instability
Shri Shah said that before Narendra Modi Government there was a question whether the BJP is dedicated for rural development or urban development. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown that while he can work for development of rural India at the same time infrastructure in urban areas can continue to grow.
Modi Government also proved that while taking care of all financial parameters, social development can be done simultaneously. He also proved how India can maintain cordial relations with every country at the same time also defend its territory and borders boldly. Shri Narendra Modi showed that how ministers and politicians can frame legislation and monitor its implementation, whereas bureaucrats can work for the implementation of the schemes to ensure that it reaches to the people at the ground level.
Positive changes in country’s politics
Stating that India has got the most efficient Prime Minister since Independence, Shri Shah said that Shri Narendra Modi is the most hardworking Prime Minister, who works from 15-18 hours a day. It is because of the BJP that the country has got such a visionary, energetic Prime Minister who has emerged as the most popular political leader in the world.
Modi Government has also worked towards ending dynasty politics and appeasement which existed since 1960s. Shri Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not just ended dynasty politics appeasement caste based politics but worked for the promotion of Politics of Development.
There was a time when newspapers had articles, headline on corruption cases worth Rs 12 lakh crore, but today the headlines are on developments and achievements. Despite being in coalition Government, there is no pressure from the ally partners. Narendra Modi Government apart from giving a stable Government has also worked towards making India free of policy paralysis and established policy driven government.
Shri Shah said that the juggernaut of development in the country has touched all the states, resulting in BJP’s governance in 20 states, either in full majority or in coalition. Today 70 % of India’s landmass and 65% of population is being governed by the BJP-NDA. Following the 2014 elections, BJP has been doing well in several states and has also progressed in the local elections of held in Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and few other states.
People welfare Government
Today there is not a single village in the country that does not have electricity. “Since Independence there were19,000 villages which did not have electricity, however, now all of them have been electrified due to the efforts of the BJP”. Under Saubhagya Yojana, one crore houses have received electricity connections and the decision to provide it to another 4 other crore houses will be taken before the 2019 elections. Modi Government is working towards providing house to everyone by 2022 and the work of 1 crore house construction has already been done in this direction. Under Ujjwala Yojna 3.6 crore poor women have been given free gas cylinders and soon the target of providing another 8 crore gas cylinders will be done. Following the request by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over 1.5 crore people have quit gas subsidies which proves Prime Minister’s popularity.
BJP’s Narendra Modi Government has stressed for employment through various schemes such as Stand Up India and Start Up India through which many employment has been generated.
Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, over 7 crore toilets have been constructed. The seven crore toilets have not just contributed towards health hygiene of those families but also ensured safety of women. It is BJP’s Modi Government that has worked for construction of infrastructures worth lakhs of crore without any corruption. By giving crop insurance to farmers at a premium of Rs 2, the Government has proved the Prime Minister Crop Insurance to be a boon for the farmers.
A few days back, I had informed the media that during the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, the Government and the BJP have worked to extend electricity, gas, bank accounts, vaccinations, LED bulbs and insurance schemes to 16,850 Dalit villages in the country. We are working towards making 65,000 more villages free of similar problems. As part of Namo Healthcare, the Narendra Modi Government has decided to provide health insurance coverage worth Rs 5 lakh to 10 crore families, which estimated to be 50 crore individuals. It was Modi Government’s decision to convert sub centers into wellness centres.
The Beti Bachao; Beti Padhao scheme was extended to 104 districts and it lead to progress in sex ration, while 146 other districts have seen institutional deliveries due to the initiative. Due to Prime Minister’s initiative 50 lakh pregnant women are getting Rs 6,000 annually directly in their bank account. Not just that, pregnant women now get 26 weeks long maternity leave compared to 12 weeks under the UPA Government. Muslim women and sisters have got a life of dignity after the new law on Triple Talaq was formed. Now the women in Muslim community will live a life of dignity and pride. To empower women from the Muslim community, the Narendra Modi Government enabled women from the community above 45 years to go to Haj Yatra In 2018,over 1,300 Muslim women will go to Haj Yatra without Mahram (a male guardian).
Government committed for Farmer’s welfare
BJP is concerned about the farmers and that is why it has taken the decision to increase Minimum Support Price by 1.5 times. Talking about Modi Government’s concern for the farmers in the country, Shri Shah said that the India has seen 9.35 % growth in its agricultural production. Apart from that production of pulses have also seen over 10 % growth. The government has also worked towards bringing down imports of pulses and stabilise the prices.
At the cost of Rs 2,000 crore, e-platform is being created as a market for the farmers. Stating that Manmohan Government had left agricultural growth at -0.2%, Shri Shah said that it is Modi Government which brought it up to 4.5 %.
Under the E-Nam, 13 states have got connected to 455 markets with a transaction of 25,679 crore. Under the initiative over 50 lakhs farmers and 95,241 traders have got connected till August 13, 2017. Over 12 crore soil health cards have been distributed and in its association over 275 laboratories have been opened. More than 275 laboratories have been created for research. Many other schemes have been initiated such as Prime Ministers Irrigation scheme, insurance schemes which has benefitted over 4 crore farmers.
Modi Government’s decision has enabled the increase in urea production manifold. The black marketing of the urea fertiliser was stopped by introducing its Neem coating. The National Bamboo Mission has also opened several new opportunities for the farmers and we will give a total of Rs 1,300 crore for the mission.
Infrastructure Development
Shri Shah spoke on the infrastructure development and said that India has seen a boost in infrastructure ever since the Modi Government has taken over. Bharatmala is one such project that will transform the road infrastructure of the country. Under the project that is worth Rs 5.35-lakh crore, nearly 53,000 km roads has already been earmarked.
At the cost of Rs 21,000 crore, Government is making all the National Highways free of railway crossings and the project will be completed by 2019. Even the country’s longest tunnel highways have been done by BJP Government. The Dhola-Sadiya Bridge is one of the biggest bridge in the country which is over 10 kms long. Similarly many other bridges will be constructed. Highlighting the work in the direction of Bullet Train, Shri Shah said that it is the BJP that worked towards bringing Indian on the map of bullet trains. Under the UDAN scheme, even a person wearing slipper can travel in aeroplane at the cost of Rs 2,500. Under the scheme of Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana, over 1 crore houses have been constructed. Apart from that, the BJP Government is working towards transforming more than 100 cities at the cost of over Rs 2 lakh crore.
Economic Growth
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become the fifth fastest growing economy and India’s growth rate has remained 7.4 % in 2017-18 fiscal. India’s GDP is fast growing and has made a remarkable presence in the world. The foreign currency reserve has increased from $ 294 Billion $ 414.78 Billion, which is the highest and the best till now. Apart from that, BJP Government has worked to block the route of black money to India from countries such as Mauritius, Singapore and Cyprus.
The GST and Demonetisation are the decisions that will transform the entire economy of the country and will leave a strong positive impact in the long run. He also mentioned that the Government has increased the pensions of central Government employees by Rs 1,000 at the total cost of Rs 12,000 crore, and gave them a chance to live respectable life.

Through the medium of DBT, benefits of Rs 431 schemes have been provided to the 3.66 crore beneficiaries. Through this initiative over Rs 83,000 crore money is being saved by the Government. The number of indirect tax payers increased by 50 %. Registrations under GST has also increased from 60 lakhs to 98 lakhs. The Rupay debit card has also increased 36 % while the UPI and digital payment has also seen a huge jump.
Shri Shah mentioned that earlier there were only 2 mobile making companies operating in India but now it increased to 120, which is making 22 crore mobile annually at the cost of 1.21 lakh crore.
Strong and Decisive Government
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has received a strong, decisive, and pro people Government. BJP’s Modi Government has worked to block the route of black money to India from countries such as Mauritius, Singapore and Cyprus.
Modi Government has sanctioned Rs 10,000 crore for 20 lakh retired army men under the One Rank One Pension scheme, which was pending for the last forty years. There has been 7 time increase in the production of solar energy. The International Solar Alliance was a result of the efforts made by India, with the headquarters in India. India has achieved various milestones in space technology in the last four years. For the first time in the world, ISRO created a record by launching 104 satellites.
By capping the cash donations to political parties up to Rs 2,000 and the electoral bonds the Government has brought transparency to the political funding. While opposition wants to remove the Modi Government, while Modi ji wants to remove corruption, dynasty politics and appeasement. People who during the emergency put over 1 lakh people behind the bars without any reason is saying that there is a sense of fear in the country. The Modi Government also kept its commitment and sanctioned Rs 10,000 crore for 20 lakh retired army men under the One Rank One Pension scheme. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and presented the proof of its strength to the entire world.
India’s honour at global platforms
Shri Modi has brought honour for the country and made the countrymen proud at several global platforms. In Davos, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated on the occasion of World Economic Forum. His speech on the occasion of inauguration ceremony proved India’s leadership in the global. Apart from that he was conferred with highest honours in Saudi Arabia, Palestine and Afghanistan. This is not just the honour of Prime Minister but the entire country. Prime Minister’s speech in Hindi at the United Nation has taken India’s image altogether to a different level.
Attacking the opposition parties, Shri Shah said that while the opposition parties were trying to remove Shri Narendra Modi, he himself wanted to remove corruption, dynasty politics and poverty from the country.
