A controversy has been created about a purported diplomatic cable, sent by officials of the USA Embassy in India to the USA State Department, which has been released on the Wikileaks platform. 

The reported conversation in the cable, between a senior USA diplomat, posted in India, and a senior politician of the Congress party, if taken at face value only affirms the widely held belief that Mr Narendra Modi is an incorruptible politician. Mr Modi’s stature in this regard is a matter of fact which has been endorsed in election after election by the people of Gujarat.

Mr Modi's record of delivering good governance and development in Gujarat has made him into a figure of national hope and his image of incorruptibility is now nationally accepted.

The current controversy has been unnecessarily hyped up by our political opponents to divert attention away from the core issues of the election campaign.  These issues are rising prices, corruption, safety and security, economic development, job opportunities.  Our Party believes that our prime ministerial candidate Mr Modi has the stature, ability and experience to effectively address the concerns of the Indian people.
