BJYM accords grand welcome to Olympians on Tokyo return

 

New Delhi, August 09: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Monday accorded a warm reception to the Indian Olympians upon their Arrival from Tokyo Olympics 2020 at the Delhi International Airport.

 

Among the Olympians who arrived on Monday were Gold medallist Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra, Bronze medallist wrestler Bajrang Punia, and the Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams.

 

They were all welcomed by the BJYM National President Tejasvi Surya (MP, Bangalore South), National General Secretary Raju Bista (MP, Darjeeling), National General Secretary Rohit Chahal, National Social Media in-charge Kapil Parmar and Vasu Rukhar, the State BJYM President of Delhi. The BJYM gave a grand reception by playing dhol, by showering the athletes with flowers and by personally felicitating them with a mala.

 

“Every Indian sportsperson representing the country at the Tokyo Olympics is a true champion. It is the intention of the BJYM to celebrate their hard work and the glory that they have brought to the country. All the athletes are role models to the country's youth. It is with this intention that we personally went to receive them at the airport”, said BJYM National President Tejasvi Surya.

 

“We also want to personally congratulate Neeraj Chopra, the first Indian to win a gold for India in athletics at the Olympics, wrestler Bajrang Punia secured a bronze medal for the country, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team which created history by clinching a medal for the first time since 1980. The Indian Women’s Hockey Team also had a fairytale run by making it to the semi finals for the first time in history of the Olympics. They are a source of inspiration for all young daughters of India,” added Surya.

 

“At the same time, we would also like to congratulate all the other Olympians who brought laurels for the country. We wish them the best and we look forward to our athletes bringing more glory to the nation in the future competitive games,” said Surya.

 

India recorded its biggest haul at the Olympics with 7 medals (one gold, two silver and four bronze). “The 7 medals at the Olympics sets the tone for further development of sports infrastructure and athlete personal development  in the country. The TOPS (Target Olympics Podium Scheme) has supported the diet, training and equipment of all Olympians. Moreover, the Khelo India Games and the Khelo University Games help unearth the upcoming potential talent. We will see exciting times to come in the future in sports,” added Bista, the National General Secretary of the BJYM.
