JP Nadda Leads BJYM’s Mashal March and Lights ‘Vijay Deep’ in Honor of Kargil Heroes

New Delhi, july 25: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) marked the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with a series of nationwide events honouring the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers.

On the evening of July 25, 2024, a grand event was held at Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi, where BJP National President Shri JP Nadda addressed a gathering of young individuals and participated in a Mashal March. He emphasised the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, reflecting on the victory achieved on July 26, 1999, when the Indian Army reclaimed the nation’s territory with unparalleled bravery.

Shri JP Nadda, accompanied by BJYM National President Shri Tejasvi Surya, led the Mashal March from Central Park. The march, symbolizing the spirit of patriotism, saw enthusiastic participation from the youth. After the march, Shri JP Nadda lit the ‘Vijay Deep’, a symbolic lamp that will remain lit for 25 hours, commemorating 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas and honouring the ultimate sacrifice made by the brave soldiers.

While addressing the youngsters, Shri JP Nadda shared Kargil war was a war of special circumstances. Pakistan did not attack directly, but secretly like thieves, Pakistani soldiers had established their base in Kargil. The enemy was on the peaks of Kargil. The brave soldiers of India had to climb the mountain and capture that inaccessible peak. Our brave soldiers did not stop, they fought in a planned manner and again hoisted the tricolor on the inaccessible peaks of Kargil. As a representative of BJP, Shri Narendra Modi ji had gone there and encouraged the soldiers during the Kargil war. When there was war with China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1971, the clothes, caps and identity cards of our martyred soldiers used to come home but the soldiers did not come. Prime Minister Atal ji decided that any soldier who gives martyrdom for the country will be cremated with full respect in his village and the government and the Indian Army will take full responsibility for it.

BJYM National President Shri Tejasvi Surya recalled his own experiences from his childhood during the Kargil War. When he was just 9 years old, he was inspired to contribute and did so by making paintings and selling them on the pavements. The money he raised was donated to the Kargil relief fund.

Nationwide, the BJYM organized Mashal Rallies across every organizational district, with at least 2,500 young individuals participating in each district. These rallies commenced from significant locations such as the homes of Kargil martyrs, Kargil veterans, and war memorials, culminating in the lighting of the ‘Vijay Deep’ at prominent locations, staying lit for 25 hours.

The celebrations will continue till the evening of July 26 with public programs at various ‘Vijay Deep’ locations, where Kargil veterans will be felicitated by BJYM Karyakartas. The programs on July 26 will feature cultural performances and motivational speeches by retired army officers and prominent public figures, celebrating the spirit of patriotism and valour.

These events underscore the BJYM’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of our soldiers and fostering a deep sense of pride and patriotism among the youth. The BJYM remains dedicated to keeping the spirit of nationalism alive and ensuring that the legacy of Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm.
