Statement of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad,
Deputy Leader (Rajya Sabha) and Chief Spokesperson

It is clear that in the Chintan Shivir at Jaipur the Congress is more Chintit(worried) about its own future than having an honest introspection. Why is it that after nearly nine years of Congress led UPA rule Smt. Sonia Gandhi is worried about the aspiration of youth who constitute 50%(below 25 years) and 65%(under 35 years) of India’s population as well as middle class who besides the poor Indians are also suffering the consequences of price rise and inflation.

Mrs. Gandhi needs to answer as to how much employment has been given to young educated people to constructively address their concerns of security. She needs further to answer as to why inspite of repeated promise of containing inflation and price rise in 100 days people continue to suffer even after more than four-five years. Today GDP is down to 5.3%, industrial production and manufacturing are down into minus. Export-import are down, investment both foreign and domestic are down and the growth story of India has come to be questioned. In this scenario on what basis Smt. Sonia Gandhi will respond to the aspiration of youth middle class and also the common man when the election is just an year away.

Smt. Sonia Gandhi is conveniently forgetting the fundamental hard fact that rampant corruption, adhocism, policy paralysis and shamelessly protecting the corrupt has become the defining feature of the UPA Government. Good governance is the biggest casualty in the Congress led UPA Government. When rampant corruption happens it in many ways mortgages the future of the youth.

It is very important because inspite of all this gloom BJP and NDA state governments be it Gujarat, MP, Chhatisgarh, Bihar and Punjab are registering appreciable growth rate of 10% and above when the nation led by an economist Prime Minister is suffering a meagre growth rate of 5.3%. This shows why good governance makes a difference.

The aspiration of Indian youth cannot be addressed with a clamour for a bigger role for Rahul Gandhi. This is the least concern of India and Indians. The people of the country have decided for a change and surely will bring the BJP led NDA to power at the centre whenever election are held because of its track record of good governance.
