Salient points of press conference of BJP National Spokesperson
Shri Gopal Krishna Agarwal

The LDF in Kerala must come out with the Action Taken Report on their previous promises rather than giving false hopes to people.

LDF Manifesto is high on promises & low on substance

The common man of Kerala is caught between the LDF and UDF for decades and are yet to receive the fruits of development. Sadly, the Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF has once again decided to misguide people with a fresh Manifesto without giving an account of what has been achieved in the last five years.

People are fed up with both LDF led by CMP & the UDF led by the Congress Party and are yearning for change. They want infrastructure, industries, better employment opportunities and corruption free govt.

The Industry in Kerala has been looking at State Government but it seldom received any support. The heavy dependence on remittance from other countries is a concerning issue. LDF & UDF both failed to create an enabling environment in the State for the industry to prosper & no efforts made towards employment generation.

The LDF did not deliver on its previous election promises, such as the expansion of the IT and electronic park. They betrayed people on that promise.

The Social Welfare Schemes propaganda of the LDF & UDF fell flat with corruption at every level coming to light.

Gas Pipeline

LDF promised a pipeline in 2009, UDF in 2011 and again in 2016 too, nothing was delivered.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi & the BJP Government intervened on the matter in the interest of the State the Kochi - Mangaluru Natural Gas Pipeline was dedicated to the Nation. During this time, cost increased from 2915 Cr to 5750 Cr, People of Kerala understand that both LDF & UDF are responsible for such delays and cost overruns.

The anti-development LDF has deprived the people of Development for a long & its time that they pay for this.

Several Infrastructure projects announced like the Vizhinjam harbour, Azhikkal, Beypore, Ponnani & Thakassery have not taken shape. Even for an important project like the Kochi Metro, the Centre did not receive permission for over three years. Same with Kannur Airport & smart cities

Their last election promise to provide Solar power is tanked after the State Electricity Department seeped into corruption cases, pointing the hand of the Chief Minister.

Road infrastructure in the state is the poorest, High Court had to reprimand the State for the pathetic condition of roads.

BJP led by the Dynamic & visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji can only be an alternative that will ensure a corruption-free, development-oriented Government to the people of Kerala. The same is the case with Railways. LDF has not answered their promises on infrastructure or development at all.

Industries

Development of traditional industries was made and no effort was made to that effect. Their Minister VS Sunil Kumar admitted to failure on this. State PSUs's have not been revived. 64 PSUs have incurred losses. Electronic Hub at Kochi remains to be a non-starter, and there is no focus on agro-industry development. Fisheries & Agro-industries are being neglected. There is no MSP or there is no APMC. FPOs are also ignored by Vijayan Government.

Kerala is known for huge water resources, but even in places like Palakkad, faced a shortage of water, 2018 has been etched in our memory for mismanagement of floods. More than 3 lakh houses partially destroyed. There is huge distress among people about flood management.

25 lakh employment generation went unanswered. The rate of Unemployment in Kerala is higher than the national average. Those who returned from other countries to Kerala have not got any pension as promised by LDF in the last manifesto. Pensions, scholarships have not been given as promised.

No measures to increase the tourism industry, their promises on improving tourist arrival failed.

Tribals are in trouble as CM failed to deliver on the housing promise, setting up of Hospitals and Ayurveda University could not be set up because of the appeasement politics. Nothing has been done on Women Saftey, there are allegations against MLA of the ruling party.

The level of corruption is unprecedented in Kerala. It has become a hub of smugglers, especially when the CM & CMO became clear in GoldScam after the revelations of Swapna Suresh. State Finance Minister & Speaker's name is also occurring in several activities.

People are vexed with these corrupt regimes. They want to get rid of them. But LDF is hell-bent on continuing its Propaganda, misinformation campaign.

Now they are promising the same things in the new manifesto, they promised 25 lakh jobs in 2016 but the unemployment rate in Kerala is highest and now promising to provide 40 lakh new jobs & 60K crore investment on infrastructure all lies.

There is no clear cut roadmap. It is not at all conducive to investment. The left Government does not value wealth creators.

There is a clear cut anti-incumbency wave against LDF & Vijayan in Kerala. BJP is the only alternative available for people.

BJP will take the State on the track of progress, welfare & development in the spirit of "Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas aur Sab ka Vishwas" & ensure that the benefits of all central schemes are extended to people.

People understand the tacit dealings of LDF & UDF that they fight in Kerala & unite in West Bengal. People know their double standards, & narrow political interests. This time they will vote for change for sure.
