Salient points of Press Conference of Hon'ble BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

On the pious occasion of Ram Navami the Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji today visited the famous Shri Jakhu temple in Shimla where he offered prayers and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the nation and took blessings of Shri Jakhu Maharaj.

Shri Nadda said whenever there has been the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre the state has seen fast growth and development, and also major improvement in all socio- economic parameters . But Himachal Pradesh has always suffered and its rights have been trampled upon by the Congress party governments in New Delhi.

Under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji the aim and intention of the Bharatiya Janata Party government is to serve the people of the country and improve their living standard. For us power is just a medium for us to serve the people , it has never been our aim. We came to power with the intention to serve the people of the country , and that is why we have been continuously serving the people with full commitment and dedication.

In Himachal Pradesh we have seen perfect coordination between the BJP government and the party organisation. Our party workers are working very hard in taking to the people of the state all welfare and development policies and programmes being implemented by the double engine Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.

On the occasion of the 42nd Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party a mega public connect programme is currently on in the state, from April 6 to April 30. On this occasion, Party Karyakartas will hold programmes at booth level and carry out an awareness drive about the work done by the double engine BJP government for the people of Himachal Pradesh.

This month 'Gram Kendra Sammelan' will be organized in Himachal Pradesh. In May, 'Tridev Sammelan' will be organized. From May 15 to June 15 Sammelan of Panna Pramukh will be organized. Between June 25 and June 30, a 'Yuva Rally' will be held in which over 1 lakh youth will participate and it may be addressed by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.

In July, 'Panch Parmeshwar Sammelan' will be organized in Himachal Pradesh. Similarly, in August 'Labharthi (beneficiary) Sammelan' will be held in the state. In September separate 'Rath Yatras' will be organized in the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Himachal Pradesh.

The Congress party governments at the Centre have always given step- motherly treatment to Himachal Pradesh and its people. The Congress government had removed the 'Special Category' state status given to Himachal Pradesh. And this is not all, under the special status given to Himachal Pradesh the state used to get funding from the centrally sponsored projects in the ratio of 90:10 where 90% funds were given by the Centre, but the Congress party government changed it to 60:40 thus increasing the share of the state government and putting extra burden on the Himachal Pradesh government. Ironically all this happened when there were the Congress party governments at the Centre and in Himachal Pradesh.

The Congress party governments at the Centre have always discriminated between states. In 2014 when the Bharatiya Janata Party formed its government, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji once again restored the special category status given to Himachal Pradesh.

Under Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee government Himachal Pradesh had got an industrial package for 10 years, but when the Congress party led UPA government came into power it withdrew the industrial package when it was in its eight year.

Hon’ble Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji as Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of Atal Tunnel in 2002. But, the project came to a standstill under the Congress party led UPA government at the Centre. When Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi ji became Prime Minister he put the Atal Tunnel project on fast track, ensured early completion of this strategically located project and dedicated it to the nation.

Last year in December Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji had inaugurated and unveiled various development projects of Rs 11,279 crores in Himachal Pradesh. Some of the major projects include Renuka Bandh Project, Luhri Hydropower Project and Dhaulasidh project. The construction of Kol Dam has also been completed under the Bharatiya Janata Party government.

Ropeway construction is soon going to commence in 13 places in Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Kullu, Manali  and Dharamshala which will give a major boost to tourism in the state.

Under the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana over 6,384 kms of roads have been constructed in the past 5 years under the Bharatiya Janata Party government. The Narendra Modi Government has also connected small hamlets with 250 population with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. AIIMS is also under construction with the cost of Rs 1,400 crores and it will become functional soon thus providing quality health and medical facilities to the people of Himachal Pradesh.

The double engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party has led to several special benefits to Himachal Pradesh . Be it the Aayushman Bharat Yojna, Ujjwala Yojna or the programmes and policies related to the welfare of farmers, all these have given big benefits to the people of Himachal Pradesh. One thing is certain that it is only under the Bharatiya Janata Party government that the fast development, growth and progress of Himachal Pradesh is possible.

Smart City Project is equally funded by the Centre and state government. But the Shimla Smart City Project is being implemented under 90:10 funding ratio where the Narendra Modi Government is bearing 90% of the project cost and is giving Rs 500 crores while the share of Himachal Pradesh Government is just Rs 50 crores.

To ensure uninterrupted water supply to the people of Shimla by 2050 work on a mega project is going on to bring water to Shimla from Satluj river. The project will cost around Rs 1813 crores. Once this project is completed it will provide 70 liters of water every day to every resident of Shimla by 2050.

The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Himachal Pradesh is allotting 2 'biswa' land to over 3,000 families living in slums. They are also being given free power connection and free 60 units of electricity.
